thank you, 1J & 2J

Remember what I said about creating a thank-you list to thank my Secondary 1 & 2 classmates? Well here it is. The sole purpose of this is to express my feelings about the good times we had together, and comment about how you've changed over the years. This idea of a good-bye/thank-you list was inspired from another schoolmate's blog. Names are not revealed to protect their identity.

(1)
Pretty quiet person, never argumentative, quite friendly. But hey, you need more to be a bit more assertive sometimes. Your prefect duties this and next year will require it, and: "Guys, stop eating in class." will not work. However, you have started developing this area, even at the end of 2006 you were shouting at us (I can't remember why), so good job! Keep it up!

(2)
Well. You. Nothing much to say about you... except I hope you have a counterpart of me in your class; you might get bored having no phone to borrow and no one to disturb.

(3)
Although you were irritating to me in 1J and most of 2J, you're still a nice guy; just don't try to argue too much with people. You're not afraid to chase what you want when you want. I've got you in my RE group this year, let's just see how this works out.

(4)
Musical chess pro. Not much to say, just apologies for making you and Bryan do so much in our 2006 RE project. This year, I've got no chess-liking people in my class; it's been fairly boring.

(5)
Didn't really know you. Vice versa too. But at least I had no bad experiences with you.

(6)
You're a prefect now, and that comes with a whole load of responsibility. I hope you will do your job well and not get into a lot of trouble; try to abide by the rules that you uphold! Prefect assertion? Definitely.

(7)
Same as (4); musical chess guy. Strange; it seems like I have nothing much to say about the 1J/2J musical chess clique. Good luck in your new class (I hear its rough there)!

(8)
You've got a vocal/English/argumentative gift, use it well! Didn't really know you either (except for 1J Animal Farm newspaper project and Merchant of Venice play), but as with (5), no hostilities towards me.

(9)
Hmm... quiet, of sorts. Except when playing chess and waterpolo. And when talking to people. Ok maybe not so quiet. (I've got four waterpoloists in my class this year; they talk a lot)

(10)
Same as (5) & (8). Never knew you well.

(11)
Ditto. I hope this year I really interact with everyone in my class; it seems that in retrospect I only know (well enough to comment about) half the class!

(12)
You've been a source of humour and jokes for our class, you really personify our class name; 1 & 2 J(oker!).

(13)
Woah. Prefect. I think you might have a few of the assertion problems which (1) still has. But, strangely, you and (1) both have this NPCC voice which can shut the whole class up. Which you use occasionally. Good you have a sense of rules, which is the major part of prefectdom.

(14)
You're in my class this year, I'll postpone comments and judgement.

(15)
Don't be addicted to DOTA. That's all I can say. A quietish chinese chess player. Friendly, conflict-avioder, that sort of guy. Nice knowing you.

(16)
GPA 4.0! Well, did you? Musical, academically talented (hey how many RAs are you taking this year?), model student, friendly etc. Lots of good traits rolled into one. Be more assertive! Pleasure to have known you.

(17)

Didn't know you well. But hey, no major conflicts.

(18)
Short, violinist, good grades. Your greatest strength is your enthu-ness when you feel like it. Though the class has cynically put you down many a time, I stil think you have much more spirit than most of us possess, and you are serious about it; keep it up!

(19)
Don't be violent. Even towards people you don't like. Especially towards people you don't like.

(20)
*poke* Somehow, we managed to have a relatively *poke* peaceful *poke poke* time these two years. Even *poke* with all the *poke poke poke poke poke poke poke poke poke poke poke* well you get what I mean. Like (19), don't be violent! *poke*

(21)
Math genius. I didn't really interact with you in 1J & 2J. So forgive my lack of comments.

(22)
Been with you for over 5 years now. Like (21), I haven't hung around you much, so no comments. Musical chess player. Why are all chess players musical? And vice versa? (Well not all...)

(23)
That would be ME.

(24)
Same as (22). Seems like us old ACSians tend to drift apart over the years. Even in the same class. That applies to most of us from ACS here in RI. You still posess that (how to put it?) charm to make people (even yourself! Especially yourself) smile and laugh. That's a good thing. No sarcasm intended. Really.

(25)
Same as (17). No major conflicts either.

(26)
A bit like (18) actually. Before you object, I'll just say that you have that same enthu-level, and display it often. And I have to say this. Stop reading/drawing anime during class!

Hope all you guys cherish our time together, and wish you all best of luck for your future pursuits & endeavours.

SYF deadline - Ocean

Well, it wasn't that bad.

After running through "Ocean" (full name "And Then The Ocean Glows"), my Band Major (who is also a fellow clarinetist but plays Eb not Bb) said: "Not good enough."

At least it wasn't "Lousy" or "Why you never practice?", which is, well, what I usually get and probably deserve.

Still, after spending the half of CNY and the Thursday after that practicing moderately hard (in my standards) I might have expected it to be better.

Moral of the story: Semiquavers at 138 is possible but changing register is not (at least for now).

Tomorrow there's hardcore intensive sectionals. I don't even have the time & energy to practice tonight.

Thats it for now, I think I'll go to sleep.

And when I have the time, I'll add a thank you list to thank and acknowledge my fellow Secondary 1 and 2 classmates (inspired by another blog).

CCTs are here!

CCTs round the corner, with all my least favourite subjects lined up first; Chinese (arrgh), Math (hard!), History (not so bad), Biology (getting better)...

No time to blog anymore! I should get back to mugging Bio!

Which reminds me, tomorrow I've got a deadline for finishing learning our new SYF (I'm in my school band) choice piece! Although I've practiced (hard? I think so), I'm still not the standard yet (I mean, semiquavers at 138 with register jumping! I have to skip half the notes). Please, please, may I NOT get cut from the SYF competition list! Plz, plz, plz...

Let's see what tomorrow brings.

my class society

Today we were learning about societies in Social Studies. And a class is a society in itself. I have been in my new Secondary 3 class for seven to eight weeks now. So what's my class society?

Basically, (in my opinion) it's split into two major cliques. The first is what I would consider a "sporty" clique; the guys who go out gallivanting together most of the time, cause most of the class disruption, and have very active and fun (well I don't know, I think I'm in the second clique) social life. These people, are perhaps 50% of the class, and without them, our class life would be very, very dry. So I thank you all for that.

The next perhaps 30% of the class are the quieter people, who aren't as rowdy and disruptive, are still good friends among themselves. I think I fall in here. Our presence and slightly more serious attitude helps modulate down the first half of the class, and keeps (or at least tries to) the noise level down. So I can thank all of you for that too (and me too).

The last minority of 20% hover around the grey areas in between and outside of these two cliques. Some are the quietest in the class which you don't notice, while others belong to both sides of the fence. I thank you guys just for being there to fill in the gaps.

My previous Secondary 1 & 2 classes were much worse than this. The whole class had at least 5 different cliques; sport/cool clique, music/chess clique, studious clique, couldn't-care-about-homework clique... and those in one clique would usually not talk to others. My Sec 3 class is way better; each clique just regards the other with politeness and moderate friendliness, which is already alot to expect from Secondary school boys.

So, I hope this year to be much better than my last one. Our class spirit hasn't truly come out yet (except maybe our OBS experience), but there's hope.

Goal for next post: Type faster yet mantain good grammatical standard. (because some blogs become very ugly when typed with no caps all the time)

creating a blog

blog: web log: a shared on-line journal where people can post diary entries about their personal experiences and hobbies

This is my first ever created blog. My hope is that time will not erode my memory, and I will faithfully update it and keep it alive and healthy for at least a few years.

Now, to find something to write in it!!!
